Israel Ports Company Chairman Chazi Chalaweya addressed the importance of trade to the country’s national security, saying that if Israel cannot create alternatives for itself, “we will lose the war.” In an interview with the Ynet studio, he explained: “We talk a lot about Israel’s security, what worries us is the missiles – and I want to say: trade is the real danger to our national security. We are focusing on establishing dry ports, a land alternative to that bypass, so that the State of Israel on one hand continues to supply the needs for the benefit of the state – security, energy, food – and on the other hand becomes a real junction from which goods reach Europe and vice versa.”
