Singapore, June 2 (SANA) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Türkiye is holding discussions with Saudi Arabia and other regional countries to revive a transport corridor stretching from Türkiye through Syria and Jordan to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
Speaking during a dialogue on Turkish foreign policy organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in Singapore on Tuesday and broadcast by Al Jazeera Mubasher, Fidan said disruptions to maritime shipping and rising transport costs have increased the need for reliable overland routes linking regional markets.
He noted that several options are being explored to strengthen regional connectivity through Syria, adding that the proposed routes would facilitate not only energy transport but also the movement of goods, food supplies and trade across the region.
Fidan said improved transport and connectivity projects could create new opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation while supporting stability and shared development among regional countries.
