In remarks reported by Iranian media, Hussein said he had made clear to the EU’s foreign policy chief and his Russian counterpart that what Zelenskyy did “will not go unanswered.”
Iran said the strike killed one sailor and injured another, describing the incident as an act of aggression. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, meanwhile, said Ukrainian forces had achieved “very strong results” in long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea, including against vessels used for military cargo shipments involving Iran.
The conflicting accounts could not be independently verified. Tehran alleged that Ukraine attacked an Iranian commercial ship on Israel’s orders to drag Europe into war, a claim that remains unconfirmed.
