Mogadishu (HOL) — A Somaliland delegation led by Trade and Tourism Minister Abdirahman Hassan Nur met Israeli business representatives in Addis Ababa on Thursday to discuss strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.
According to a statement from Somaliland’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism, the talks focused on expanding economic collaboration in key sectors including agriculture, energy, technology, infrastructure, financial services and healthcare.
The Somaliland delegation included Central Bank Governor Abdinasir Ahmed Hirsi, Insurance Agency Director General Abdisalan Mohamed Mahmoud, and members of the Somaliland business community led by Chamber of Commerce chairman Jamaal Aydiid Ibrahim.
The Israeli side included business representatives and diplomats, among them Israel’s Deputy Ambassador to Ethiopia. Israel’s envoy to Somaliland, Michael Lotem, joined the meeting remotely.
The ministry said the discussions are part of Somaliland’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment and expand international economic partnerships. Officials expressed hope that the engagement would pave the way for future trade and investment agreements between the two sides.
